The origin of Dongpian tea: It comes from tea trees that have already entered their dormant period according to the solar terms. When they encounter a warm and humid winter, they mistakenly believe that spring has arrived and begin to sprout new shoots. The aroma of the tea leaves at this time is exceptionally fresh and the taste is sweet, generally referred to as "Dongpianzaicha." Because the tea trees are "deceived" into growing by the climate, it is also jokingly called "Dongpiancha" (winter deception tea). Dongpian tea grows in a cold climate, so tea farmers need to put in more effort and time in subsequent tea garden management, fertilization, irrigation, and production period adjustment to harvest good tea leaves.
Dongpian tea has a unique flavor, different from typical high-mountain teas. The tea liquor has a high aroma, a sweet and mellow taste, and is less likely to be bitter or astringent, making it a favorite among tea connoisseurs.
